With ‘Songs For You’, STOREBJERG pays tribute to the people who have helped him through life’s doubts and turbulence. The album is both a thank-you to those closest to him and a testament to how love and community can be driving forces in facing the world’s bigger challenges.
“I’ve experienced first-hand how the state of the world can make you almost apathetic. But the people around me helped me reach out instead of shutting down. This album is my attempt to pass that energy on,” says STOREBJERG.
From love songs to the climate crisis
The album embraces both intimate love songs and reflections on climate, inequality and politics. From the Jeff Buckley-inspired opener ‘New York’, written after a stay in the city where the stark contrast between wealth and poverty was impossible to ignore, to the Danish song ‘Forglem Mig Ej’, written for his girlfriend who supported him through a period of heavy thoughts.
Songs like ‘Little Guy’ and ‘Mamma May Be’ are dedicated to his younger brother and mother respectively, while ‘What a Human Can Do’ takes a critical look at the climate crisis, capitalism and political power struggles. What ties all the tracks together is a search for meaning in relationships – whether within family, in love, or across the divides of society.
