“We wanted to capture that energy that only happens when many people play together in the same room. It’s not about perfection, but about the interplay and the feeling of being truly present,” says bassist and songwriter Peter Kræg.
Lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter Morten Thuesen adds: “For us, it’s always about recording the music in a way that lets you hear the closeness between us – that’s where the magic happens.”
The expanded lineup features, among others, Per Mølgaard Jørgensen from The Blue Van on drums and Christophe Mugnier-Pollet on saxophone, whose playing leaves a distinctive mark on several tracks. The production is handled by Søren Christensen (The Blue Van, Go Go Berlin, Fallulah, The Courettes), who has crafted a sound that’s both raw and melodic — and every bit as vibrant as the golden era of rock that inspired it.
The band cites 1971 as their greatest source of inspiration — a year when rock music burned with freedom, energy, and experimentation, and when artists like The Rolling Stones, The Who, and John Lennon created some of their most powerful works.
With ‘Live at Black Tornado’ The New Weavers continue their mission to keep rock’n’roll alive — created in collaboration, recorded live, and driven by pure joy of playing.
About The New Weavers
The New Weavers is a Danish retro-rock band fronted by Peter Kræg (bass, vocals) and Morten Thuesen (guitar, vocals). Drawing inspiration from the golden age of rock around 1971, the band is known for its organic, live-recorded approach to music.
In 2022, they released their debut album ‘Rock ’n’ Roll Fan Fiction’, which earned praise from both Danish and international media. With the follow-up ‘Live at Black Tornado’, they continue their mission to keep rock’n’roll alive — fueled by collective recordings, strong songwriting, and a genuine joy of playing.
