ORA SHINE A LIGHT ON MENTAL HEALTH WITH COLORFUL DEBUT ALBUM ‘:(:’

The Copenhagen sibling duo fuses vivid emotion with a kaleidoscope of sounds, merging shimmering modern pop and lush R&B with crisp Nordic indie. This autumn, Lea and Samuel will release their debut album, ‘:(:’ – a powerful call to speak openly about mental health, particularly for a generation navigating identity, pressure, and neurodiversity.

Anchoring the release is the lead single ‘LIMBO’, a vulnerable yet empowering track. Driven by a charming reggae beat and introspective lyricism, the song captures a yearning for balance between emotional highs and lows.

“It’s about accepting that when you’re living with ADHD – which both my brother and I do – you may never experience life in a ‘normal’ middle ground,” says Lea. “And that’s okay. We wrote this as a celebration of that difference.”

ORA first gained international attention with their debut single ‘Bad Day’ in late summer 2024. Since then, they’ve earned praise from the likes of Ones To Watch (US), tmrw magazine (UK), C-Heads (DE), and KCRW (US). This year, ORA have resonated with Danish audiences through their radio hit ‘Life Witness’ – a disco-tinged celebration of their siblinghood inspired by Sister Sledge’s classic ‘We Are Family’.

The album’s title ‘:(:’ is a bittersweet yet hopeful smiley symbolizing that even in darkness, joy can exist. Produced in close collaboration with Jonathan Elkær (Phlake), the record is a genre-blending journey into Lea and Samuel’s multi-colored sonic world.

“‘Under The Influence’ is orange, ‘Space Rock’ is purple, and ‘Time Lapse’ is like the colors in a soap bubble,” Samuel says, before concluding: “When we started making this album, I felt worse than I ever have. But during the process, it became natural for me to talk about how I’m really feeling – and that’s why I stand here today, feeling better than I ever have.”
