Katrine Schmidt unfolds the paradoxes of life on new album – out today

On her sophomore album ‘Wearing My Heart On My Sleeve’, Danish artist Katrine Schmidt transforms grief, love, longing and life’s paradoxes into a body of work infused in equal measure with hope and helplessness.

The songs unfold within an organic soundscape, drawing clear lines to the American singer songwriter and jazz traditions, with traces of early Tom Waits, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and Billy Joel. The album was written over a three year period in which she first lost her father after a sudden illness and later experienced one of life’s great miracles, becoming a mother for the first time.
