Wormholedeath is pleased to welcome Jewel Throne to the label. Formed in Finland in 2019, the band combines the aggression of death and thrash metal with melodic and progressive passages, blistering guitar work, and varied song structures.
Following three previous EPs and their 2024 debut album, The Obsidian Sculptor marks a new chapter for Jewel Throne. The band spent considerable time developing the material in the studio, refining each track until it reflected their musical vision without compromising the raw energy at the core of their sound. “The Obsidian Sculptor” will be released on November 27, 2026.
The band comments:
“We are proud to announce the signing with Italy’s WormHoleDeath label. We are looking forward to working with them, and this is a major step forward after our debut album release back in 2024.”
The signing is accompanied by the release of “The Obsidian Sculptor”, the EP’s title track and first preview of the new material. Combining aggressive riffing, death metal intensity and melodic elements, the track introduces the sound and atmosphere of the upcoming release.
Jewel Throne’s lyrics address personal struggles and the state of the world, while their music avoids relying on a fixed formula. Their arrangements range from stripped-back passages to densely layered guitars, bass, and vocals, allowing each song to develop its own character.
The current lineup has been together since 2020. Bassist Mika Sallanen writes the majority of the band’s music, while vocalist Jesse Huovinen handles most of the lyrics. Guitarist Toni Koskinen also contributes to the songwriting, with the full band — including drummer Jouni Kurikka — involved in arranging and refining the material.
With The Obsidian Sculptor, Jewel Throne continue to develop the sound they have built since their formation, bringing together death/thrash aggression, melodic detail and a collaborative approach to songwriting.
The Obsidian Sculptor will be released via Wormholedeath.
