‘This Feeling’ is a burst of positivity. The song came together very naturally, and the lyrics were written in just half an hour. The song tells the story of how Gunnva learned to embrace Christianity when marrying her husband, discovering the joy of feeling constantly loved and accepted for who she is. It reflects everything beautiful about faith, and follows the transition from city nightlife and late nights to a broader understanding of the world – and the importance of caring for oneself and others. In this way, the song is almost like a testimony of a meeting with Jesus.
“‘This Feeling’ is about wanting more of all the good things. The rest of the album deals with heavier themes, which are also part of life, but this song is meant to remind us that there’s a lot of good in life too,” Gunnva explains.
Energetic pop with nostalgic roots
The track serves as a bright contrast on the album, forming a protective core over the rougher songs that follows. The instrumentation mirrors the lyrics, giving listeners the feeling of simply leaning back to “enjoy the ride”.
Gunnva sent the lyrics to her producer Victor Kiowsky Søyland and guitarist Søren Nissum, requesting that the instrumental feel playful, uptempo, and edgy. With a bright bell motif, pumping drums, acoustic guitar, and lap steel, the song blends nostalgic and contemporary sounds into an soundscape that is both grounded and elevated.
Gunnva’s singles ‘In My Heart’ and ‘One More Time’, received airplay on P5, and GAFFA covered her song ‘Habits’. She has also received international attention from outlets such as Fame Magazine, She Makes Music, InMusic, East Portland Blog, and Nordic Music Central.

28-year-old Gunnva Jóhannisardóttir Kjærgaard is a Danish-Faroese singer and songwriter based in Aalborg, Denmark. She has previously been featured on several million-streaming tracks by the DJ duo BOILERS, and she is now establishing herself as a solo artist with a sound that fuses pop, folk, and organic elements.
‘This Feeling’ which will be released on all major streaming services on September 19th is the next step on the journey toward Gunnva’s debut album ‘Monochrome’, which is out on October 31.
