DEATH BY LOVE HACKS THE MATRIX ON TRAILBLAZING “444” ALBUM VIA DISTORTION PRODUCTIONS

With the release of their debut album “444” via Distortion Productions, trans-Atlantic dark-electronic duo DEATH B¥ LØVE are pulling back the curtain on the unique themes and continent-spanning creative process that defines this record. At its core, “444” explores how trauma and healing are processed across cultures, offering a deeply personal look at modern collaboration in a hyper-connected yet physically isolated world.

Created between Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Lódz, Poland, the project serves as a case study in how geographical isolation can fuel, rather than hinder, artistic collaboration. Through a year-long process of digital file-sharing and periodic trans-Atlantic travel, acclaimed Pittsburgh music producer and multi-instrumentalist Peter Guellard and vocalist singer-songwriter Inga Habiba turned the physical distance between them into a sonic asset. The resulting album is an intentionally constructed collision between Western gothic-industrial foundations with Middle Eastern scales and atmospheric trip-hop textures.

Peter Guellard brings to this project decades-long presence in both America’s and Poland’s dark-electronic underground, including work with The Electric Hellfire Club, Closterkeller and Blitzkrieg, while singer-songwriter Inga Habiba’s distinctive, spiritually-charged voice has been shaped by a multicultural heritage and a long career fronting gothic and new-wave acts in Poland.

“What makes 444 cohesive is its focus on survival and cultural memory,” says Inga Habiba. “There is a delicate balance between electronic sound and the family histories that shape us. Operating from two different parts of the world forced us to really dig into those personal histories to find common emotional ground.”

Rather than letting distance dilute the project’s identity, the duo used it to experiment with starkly contrasting sonic themes. Tracks like “Temros” and “Ziro” heavily incorporate Middle Eastern scales and vocal textures, branching far outside traditional Western darkwave. Meanwhile, the sonic landscape shifts seamlessly toward gothic and industrial tones on tracks like “Sellenno”, “Strong Inside” and “I Don’t”. The icing on the cake is the tripped-out space-hop single “Cosmic Power”.

Over 11 tracks, DEATH B¥ LØVE explores mysticism, identity, spiritual tension, and emotional rebirth, plunging listeners into shadow and transcendence. To bridge the physical gap for global audiences, the duo has developed a multimedia performance approach that integrates immersive visual elements with their live sound. Live, they are joined by Pam Simmons on guitar and Joe Palermo on drums.

“We are not afraid of sonic experimentation,” explains Peter Guellard. “Blending these distinct genres within one album allows different audiences to find their own point of connection. It proves that a shared artistic vision can completely transcend geography.”

On July 11th, DEATH B¥ LØVE brings their energy to the stage, performing at the Wooltura Club in Lódz for BlitzDay, along with MECHU and Shagreen. This unique evening is dedicated to the Polish independent scene, featuring artists with musical roots in the legendary Blitzkrieg band, one of the most pioneering darkwave-goth bands in the history of Polish alternative music.

“444” is available now on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where CDs are available exclusively via Bandcamp and from live shows.
