Projekt Records artist Lowsunday has released the extended 30th anniversary remaster of their highly regarded debut album ‘Low Sunday Ghost Machine’. In this 2-CD offering, they present a feast of energetic post-punk, shoegaze and dreampop. From quiet intensity to sweeping sonic landscapes, Lowsunday makes a welcome return with their retro-futurist daydream, merging post-punk classicism with a distinctly forward-looking sound.
The original album includes nine tracks with richly melodic atmospheres and introspective vocals. The 2025 remastered extended edition includes a second disc with seven bonus tracks, rooted in that same era (unreleased tracks, remixes and reinterpretations).
Bringing new depth and energy to the original material, these reimagined versions of original tracks were produced and mixed by lowsunday bandmates Shane Sahene and Bobby Spell, who had joined the band following the debut album and played on their 2001 ‘Elesgiem’ album. Just last year, Projekt Records re-released the remastered extended edition of that album.
Showcasing this album, Lowsunday also presents 2 videos – for ‘Innocence (2025 electro mix)’ and ‘For A Moment (2025 electro mix)’, demonstrating the ever-changing connection of past and future, as well as synergy between the instrumental, mechanical and the human condition.
For vinyl lovers, Lowsunday has also released a limited edition 7″ of ‘Static’ and ‘Besides’ on grey marble vinyl with silver foil emboss on the cover. The A-side is a re-recorded version of ‘Static’ (from their debut album), while ‘Besides’ is a previously unreleased track that is exclusive to this release.
Based in Pittsburgh, Lowsunday brings something new and refreshing to the darkwave scene. From Brit-influenced dreampop to shoegaze-inspired melancholia, their effortlessly smart and catchy songs tread the sonic waters with screeching guitars and layer upon layer of arsenic-laced melodies, crowned with bittersweet and emotive vocals.
The original ‘Low Sunday Ghost Machine’ issue marked the band’s second attempt at a full-length record after their original recordings were shelved. With renewed energy and a clearer sonic vision, they returned to the studio and delivered what would become their defining statement — an album of layered guitars, atmospheric synths, and emotive vocals. With positive reviews and a dedicated following in the USA and Europe, the album’s reach and reputation grew amongst alternative and dark music lovers.
Recorded at the height of the band’s ascent, the original nine album tracks feature Shane Sahene (vocals and guitar), Marc Turina (bass), LP (drums), Scott Bedillion (guitar) and Dale Reckless (synth). The additional tracks include two newly remastered songs from the band’s mid-’90s sessions, as well as five new 2025 mixes and reinterpretations.
The ‘Glittered Something (2025 remaster)’, dating back to 1997, is performed by original members Shane Sahene and Marc Turina, along with Eric Arnold (guitar), Shaun Leslie (synth) and Michael McCabe (drums). The final track, ‘For A Moment (goodbye mix 2025 remaster)’, reflects a key phase in the band’s evolution – a 1999 re-recording that appeared on the band’s ‘Elesgiem’ album, sees Sahene joined by Bobby Spell (bass), AT Vish (drums) and the late Shawn Bann (guitar and synth).
‘Low Sunday Ghost Machine’ is out now digitally everywhere, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where the limited edition 7″ release of ‘Static / Besides’ is also available.
