ROMYO debuts with dreamlike new single ‘ON YOUR WAY’

On his new single, Copenhagen-based artist Romyo introduces a weightless and emotionally charged sound – blending intimate songwriting, ambient textures, and understated club-inspired production in a song about grief, devotion, and carrying someone through the dark.

“It’s about staying close to someone who’s experienced loss. Being the person who remains and offering unconditional support and care, giving everything you have in the hope of getting somewhere better. But it also comes from a place of doubt. Wondering whether you’re strong enough to hold something together when you’re grieving too.”

That’s how Romyo describes ‘On Your Way’. Built around his guitar, old-school drum samples, the iconic DX7 synth, and room-recorded vocals and instrumentation, the track moves with a hypnotic sense of flow. Intimate bedroom pop expands into something cinematic, immersive, and quietly euphoric.

“I’m drawn to music that puts you in a trance,” Romyo says. “Whether it’s Sade, Young Thug, James K, or being in a techno club — it’s all about atmosphere and repetition for me. I don’t need huge dramatic shifts to feel something. Mood, sound, and lyrics always come first. Close your eyes and drift with it.”

‘On Your Way’ is the first in a series of upcoming releases created alongside producers Mikkel Kjær and Jens Rønne.

Behind Romyo is Copenhagen musician Emil Wiendel, who has spent recent years as part of the Danish underground scene, previously releasing music under the alias Wili Solo. His work has been highlighted by influential outlets including Soundvenue (DK), COLORS (DE), Ones To Watch (US), and CRACK Magazine (UK).

With ‘On Your Way’, Romyo opens a new chapter with more music on the horizon. The song is released independently in collaboration with Universal Music.
