Nordly captures the aftereffects of childhood on ‘Afterwaves’

How long does something really stay in the body? That question runs beneath ‘Afterwaves’, as Nordly reflects on the aftereffects that can follow a childhood shaped by instability and unpredictability. The song isn’t a confrontation, but a snapshot – a memory where the feeling is allowed to stand on its own, without being explained away.

Musically, ‘Afterwaves’ moves between indie pop and subtle country influences, with a distinctive slide guitar adding edge and momentum to the sound. Throughout the track, AnnaMia Lindblom and Frederik Breith-Mortensen sing in close duet, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere.

A sound in motion
‘Afterwaves’ marks another step in Nordly’s collaboration with Swedish producer Petter Nygårdh, who also plays drums on the recording. Here, the duo builds on the organic and intimate sound they’ve explored before, but with a more direct and forward-looking energy.

The track is mixed and mastered by Frederik Lautrup of the Danish band Gorgeous. With lyrics in both Swedish and English, Nordly continues to explore language and identity, allowing the personal to take centre stage in their music.
