New single ‘The Beauty of Life’, Danish duo Sko/Torp – widely regarded as one of the defining acts of the 90s Danish pop scene – turn their focus towards hope and togetherness in uncertain times. With the world feeling increasingly unstable and a younger generation growing up with a new kind of fear, the song captures a simple but powerful idea: the beauty of life is that it’s happening. The track unfolds as a melodic, organic pop song with a warm, soulful touch, true to Sko/Torp’s signature style. ‘The Beauty of Life’ is out Thursday, May 7.
A lasting legacy
For more than three decades, Sko/Torp have been a mainstay of the Danish music scene. While the world around them has changed, their approach remains the same: a focus on strong songwriting, presence, and holding on to what connects us.
Sko/Torp rose to prominence with their 1990 debut album ‘On A Long Lonely Night’, which remains the best-selling Danish debut album of all time, with more than 200,000 copies sold. Songs like ‘Get Ready’, ‘Loser’s Game’ and the title track have since become staples of Danish pop history.
Still highly active, the duo continues to perform extensively while releasing new music. ‘The Beauty of Life’ marks the next chapter, looking ahead while staying true to the core of what has always defined Sko/Torp: strong melodies, real musicianship, and songs with something to say.
