THE PIT presents : ‘Que ton règne vienne’ : a history of satanism in France

“To combat the anxiety that haunts him day and night, a young actor decides to explore his dark side. An initiatory quest which will lead him in the footsteps of Satanism in France, from the legends of yesterday to the black masses of today.”

As new addition to its list of programs, THE PIT VOD platform is now involved in the new project by Les Furtifs collective (‘Nous Sommes Les Nouvelles Chimères’, 2020) called ‘Que ton règne vienne’ in co-production with Les Acteurs de L’Ombre, the Shadowz VOD platform & Frozen Records.

A film directed by Mathias Averty (who notably filmed music videos and other live recordings for Fange, REGARDE LES HOMMES TOMBER or Year of no light) and devoted to the history of Satanism in France through the prism of a dark and initiatory quest poetic, offering a unique perspective on the subject.

To give the movie the best quality but also editing and releasing the soundtrack of the film in physical formats (CD, LP etc.) a crowdfunding campaign has been launched on Ulule while a video teaser is available right now on YouTube.

The origin of Evil
“While is a “superstar” in England or the U.S, Satan is way less popular in the French cinematographical landscape. One might believe that it no longer scares anyone, in a rational and atheist country, yet we have encountered it for centuries in the four corners of France: in our regional legends, under the pen of Charles Baudelaire, in concerts of Black Metal… and even deep in the Marseille creeks.

With ‘Que ton règne vienne’, we want to tell the story of Satanism in France while breaking the clichés, rumors and fake news that surround this doctrine. Satan is not at the center of a vast criminal organization, but above all he remains an inexhaustible source of inspiration and countercultural and romantic rebellion.

For the first time we wish to bring together the words of recognized researchers and “practitioners” in a single film. Through the road trip of a common thread character, it is the opportunity to meet historical figures like Gilles de Rais or Madame de Montespan. We Underwater also enter the psyche of cursed artists like Lautréamont and Baudelaire, before exploring the Paris of the depths, haunted by occultists and charlatans of all kinds.

At the crossroads of History, sociology and initiation, we want to make a dreamlike documentary which is aimed at the general public as well as those initiated.”
