Follows announcement of Agalloch for a 2025 European exclusive headlining performance
Scarborough, UK; 14.06.24: RUÏM has been revealed as the second band to be announced for the 2025 edition of Fortress Festival. Taking place on the weekend of 31 May – 1 June 2025 at Scarborough Spa, this will be a UK debut and exclusive performance from the band that features iconic former Mayhem guitarist and Vltimas founder, Blasphemer.
Standard weekend tickets for Fortress Festival are now on sale: https://www.fortressfestival.co.uk/tickets
RUÏM was formed in early 2020, driven by a firm desire to revisit the style of music Blasphemer has dedicated himself to and been associated with since the mid-90s. Joining Blasphemer is French-born drummer César Vesvre (Agressor, Thagirion).
The project was inspired by the rediscovery of a long-lost tape of old, unused Mayhem-era riffs (post Wolf’s Lair Abyss), a new vision for an album immersed in Brazilian witchcraft and the left hand path of the Umbanda tradition, a practice in which Blasphemer himself is taught in. The result was ‘Black Royal Spiritism – I – O Sino da Igreja’, RUÏM’s debut studio album. It presents a glimpse of something new, unique, visionary and highly eclectic.
This follows the news of Agalloch performing a 2025 European exclusive headlining show at Fortress Festival; their first in the UK since the band’s reformation and the first in the UK since 2015.
Early bird tickets have sold out quickly following the Agalloch announcement and Fortress Festival is now 50% sold out.
