It’s been a few years since we last heard from Danish pop artist Rosa Skotte, but on 23 August she invites you into the seductive universe of the night with her new single ‘Solo Dancer’.
Solo Dancer is about the unexpected joy that comes from meeting the love of your life when you least expect it. You had it perfect and weren’t really looking, but suddenly life takes one of those surprising turns that changes everything.
Produced by Rosa Skotte herself, the song is a follow-up to her debut EP ‘Case Named Lovers’ from 2022, from which the song ‘Rhythm Of My Heart’ was featured on New Music Friday Denmark. The dark and flirtatious club vibe that surrounds the song’s incendiary sound is particularly inspired by Dua Lipa, she explains.
Music video featuring royal ballet dancer
“’Solo Dancer’ is accompanied by a music video featuring Emma Riis-Kofoed, a solo dancer at the Royal Danish Theatre,” says Skotte. Coincidentally, she saw her on the metro the day she was going to record the song, and that’s when the idea of shooting a music video on the metro came about.
The video was directed by Rosa herself in collaboration with Assa Rytter, a documentary filmmaker from the National Film School of Denmark.
Mini biography
Rosa Skotte comes from a piano-playing family. Her parents were musicians, so it was only natural for Rosa to follow in their footsteps. Music has played a huge part in her life for as long as she can remember, and she started producing her own songs at the age of 12.
In 2012 she took part in the talent show Voice and has since been a member of the Scandinavian pop group S’Candy, which has toured Scandinavia and even appeared on Good Morning Norway.
In 2017, she made her debut as a solo artist with the song ‘Do It’ and has since released four singles and the EP ‘The Case Named Lovers’.
