Copenhagen songwriter Nicklas Sahl explores the human superpower of empathy on new single, ‘Trampoline’. With catchy, guitar-driven indie-pop, one of the most influential Nordic hitmakers of the past five years is back and leaping into a new era.
“I’m a real people pleaser – I all too often put others’ needs ahead of my own and am hyper-aware of whether the people around me are okay. At its core, that’s of course quite sympathetic – a sort of social, human superpower – but I also know that my obsession with pleasing others often leads me to become the person I think others want me to be, instead of just being myself.”
But that’s exactly who independent hitmaker Nicklas Sahl is on his new single: himself! ‘Trampoline’ marks Sahl’s return to the spotlight and offers the first taste of an upcoming album from one of Denmark’s most distinctive voices.
Since his breakout with multi-platinum hits like ’Four Walls’, ‘Planets’ and ‘New Eyes’, Nicklas Sahl has captivated audiences across Denmark and beyond its borders – topping charts, selling out major venues and earning a place in the hearts of pop fans everywhere.
Now, in a time when the world seems to be moving at supersonic speed and more than 100,000 songs are released every single day, Sahl has chosen not to rush, but instead to take the time to reconnect with the heart of his songwriting.
“It’s a finely tuned and hyper-perfectionist world we live in. In the rush, it’s easy to lose yourself. I think that’s why I’ve felt the need to seek out the opposite – to slow down and spend time trying to understand my human flaws in a more nuanced way, not just beating myself up over the mistakes I make, but instead seeing the strengths that often lie hidden within them,” says Sahl.
With the release of ‘Trampoline’, Nicklas Sahl takes a leap into something completely new – and there’s much more to come!
