Copenhagen-based artist Mirby’s debut EP ‘Like This’, out September 19. It’s a release where bold, colourful and entertaining songs stand side by side with reflections on losing her father during the making of the record. The five tracks move between pop, RnB, funk and alternative vibes – always with playful curiosity and a will to challenge conventions.
Despite the heavy theme, Mirby insists on humour, energy and a DIY spirit. The title track comes with a hilarious handheld music video that follows her rushing to work, getting sidetracked in funny ways before ending on a Copenhagen rooftop with her guitarist, playing the sun down.
From the climate-conscious funk of ‘Biosphere’, to the feminist RnB anthem ‘What Is Sexy?’, to the heartfelt ballad ‘Gone’ written directly to her late father, Mirby insists on being both “fcking confident” and “fcking vulnerable.”
