Mike Andersen has always been known for following his own path and searching for his own sound – rather than leaning on genre definitions and dogma. On this 10th album, his palette of musical references is broader than ever, resulting in a work that is both surprising and deeply personal.
The songs explore the years that followed Mike Andersen’s divorce – the ups and downs alike. They speak of finding one’s feet again, of longing, doubt, change and hope. With honesty and intimacy, Mike draws the listener into a chapter that has left a lasting mark on him – both as a person and as a musician.
Created in the moment – without rules
The album came to life in a space where Mike and producer Christian Ki spent most of their time – just the two of them. With no fixed plans and driven by inspiration and instinct, they let the music unfold organically.
“I started working with Christian Ki – and never looked back. The energy and inspiration were there from our very first session, and it quickly became clear to me that we were going to make the whole album together”, says Mike Andersen.
The original plan was to work with several producers, but the collaboration with Ki quickly grew so strong that no one else was needed. In recent years, Ki has made a name for himself with a string of successful solo releases and as the producer behind one of the most critically acclaimed albums of 2024 – Simone Tang’s ‘Things I Remember’. From their very first session, it was clear he was the perfect match.
From stripped-back to electric
The album consists of 10 original songs. Two singles have already been released – ‘Only For You’ and ‘Don’t Waste Your Time’ – showcasing the album’s wide sonic range: from stripped-back acoustic moments to hard-hitting electric energy. ‘Don’t Waste Your Time’ has also attracted strong attention and is currently in rotation on Denmark’s P5 radio station.
‘All Out Of Love’ is an album full of nerve and curiosity – where the raw and the refined stand side by side. The sound feels fresh and free, yet still bears the unmistakable stamp of Mike Andersen.
A bluesy touch – on his own terms
Throughout his career, Mike Andersen has built on a solid foundation of blues and roots music – but he’s never allowed himself to be confined by genre conventions.
“I have a deep love for blues and roots, but I insist on doing it my way. Blues purists are more than welcome – I just won’t promise to play by the rules”, he says with a smile.
That’s precisely why the album covers such a wide spectrum – from ‘Big Mouth’, one of the most blues-infused tracks Mike has ever released, to songs that stray far from traditional blues. ‘All Out Of Love’ isn’t aimed at a specific niche, but at anyone who appreciates heartfelt, hand-played music with an international feel.
