The first chapter is OUT NOW setting the stage for ‘Dear Space’ – a story of love and loss in two parts to be completed in the Autumn with the second video along with a long-awaited debut-EP by the promising, independent Danish pop-duo!

“The bravest thing you will ever do is love again.”

The powerful opening quote of the short film doesn’t seem to affect the mood of the stories’ main character played by lead singer, Line Gade. We meet a young woman desperately trying to get the smile back on her face. In an open cabriolet, she cruises into the Summer in a bright and colorful vintage-like universe, as she searches for love on impulsive yet miserable dates.

As short video flashbacks occur, we get a sense of the gloomy truth of something or somebody missing.

“The first chapter states the brave act of chasing love but under the surface it’s a story of loss and deprivation. We wanted to play with contrasts visually between the apparently sad mood of the main character whom I play, and the superficial joy from the ecstatic people that surround the character. We love this nostalgic vintage universe with the defined contrasts and we think it matches the theme in ‘Feel Something’ about letting yourself go and embracing the colors, surroundings and maybe even love. Despite the darkness in my character, she’s definitely giving herself a try – but what lies beneath is still to be told,” Line Gade says.

‘Feel Something’ is the latest single by ROYA – also consisting of producer, Sebastian Igens, who makes notable, entertaining cameos throughout the entire music video. The flirty, refreshing Summer-bop marks a remarkable year for the Aarhus-based independent duo who are making themselves noticed in the Nordics, echoing honest lyrics interpreting all the flaws that we tend to undermine from time to time while their sound is lively, edgy and dance floor ready widescreen pop!

When released in the Autumn of 2022, ‘Kinda Sad’ made a significant impact on international music blogs and media, also claiming a “Song of the Week” on Danish national radio P3. The follow-up, ‘Paperwings’, hit the NMF-playlists all over Scandinavia while ROYA simultaneously surfed the radio waves featuring on ‘Ocean’ by the Danish folk-pop act, Jonah Blacksmith, hitting Top-5 the official Airplay Chart.

‘Dear Space – The Short Film’ is a VIA FILM and TRANSMEDIA production directed by Sissel Elwarth, produced by Ida Nørholm and filmed by Jonas Nordberg.

The second chapter will unfold in the Autumn along with a debut-EP by ROYA out worldwide on Copenhagen-based independent label, Tigerspring.
