Hanne Lynge opens up about infidelity on ‘Single Soul’

With ‘Single Soul’, Hanne Lynge gives voice to one of love’s greatest taboos: infidelity. Out on August 29, the new single gently confronts what it really means to be faithful – and when love becomes forbidden.

“Are we even made for monogamy? When do we cross the line? Is it cheating to kiss someone at a Christmas party? Or just to feel attracted to someone else?” asks Hanne – and these are the very questions that form the foundation of the song and the conversation she hopes to spark.

When love doesn’t play by the rules
‘Single Soul’ tells the story of two people trying to resist – but failing. A spark turns into flames, and two souls merge, even though they shouldn’t. The lyrics are built around poetic contrasts like “so forbidden and yet so right / there’ll be no love without a fight”, and the entire song brims with the tension between desire and guilt, passion and shame, freedom and commitment.

The melodic soundscape and Hanne Lynge’s distinctive vocals draw the listener into an emotional space where what feels wrong suddenly seems right – and nothing is black and white.

A sincere voice with a story to tell
Hanne Lynge has always written with honesty and without compromise. She writes both lyrics and melody herself and releases her music independently – and with ‘Single Soul’, she once again gives voice to the conversations we rarely dare to have. Not to romanticise infidelity, but to provoke the kind of honesty that might just prevent it:

“Infidelity has torn many couples apart – but it has also brought some closer together. If we dare to talk about our desires and boundaries before we find ourselves in the middle of the chaos, we might be able to avoid it – or at least connect on a deeper level”, says Hanne.

‘Single Soul’ is more than just a song. It’s a musical and human commentary on a society where love is often expected to fit into narrow boxes. Hanne Lynge pulls at those boundaries – with warmth, musicality, and courage.
