Grandiose arena rock from CAPITALS, ‘Fire’

Danish rock trio CAPITALS wear their emotions on their sleeves on the grandiose new single ‘Fire’, which is out on 27 October. The song is about rediscovering your belief in love after being burned.

Earlier this year, CAPITALS released the single ‘Too Much Noise’. The song was chosen as ‘Pick Of The Day’ on the American music blog Glamglare, who described it as: “A beautifully vibrant and gloriously catchy track.”

Prelude Press also praised the band, describing them as a cross between Bruce Springsteen and The Killers.

Now the Copenhagen-based rock trio are releasing their next single, and the sound of ‘Fire’ demonstrates that the synergy and drive of its predecessor is intact on ‘Fire’.

A taste for arena rock
‘Fire’ starts off patiently and quietly, but halfway in you’re overwhelmed by a tight and insistent hi-hat that impressively drives the track to the next level.

The drums are accompanied by a grandiose soundscape where strings, choral voices and tremolo vocals come together in a climax that will appeal to those with a penchant for stadium rock.

If you listen closely, you’ll notice that Nefling’s vocals have some similarities to Ryan Adams’. Danish radio listeners may recognise it from his solo project, The Victim, which has garnered more than 150 spins across the largest radio stations in Denmark over the past year.

Burned and blinded
Lyrically, the band has gone all the way to the bone to bring out the emotions. Lead singer Kenneth Nefling says about this:

“The song is about daring to trust another person after being disappointed over and over again. Most people have been disappointed by another person at some point in their lives, so the experience is pretty universal i guess.

Sometimes you can be blinded by your bitter experiences that end up blocking your ability to give yourself fully to a new relationship. On ‘Fire’, it is seen from the point of view of the other person in the new relationship and how difficult it might be to convince someone who has already been burned that it won’t happen again,” he says.
