‘1986 Forever’ is a dark and twisted postmodern comedy starring 802, one of the most acclaimed new alternative acts of the Nordics. The Danish short film is a visual tour de force back in time – a loud love story to heavy metal and a celebration of the outsider.
‘1986 Forever’ is the story of the anti-heroes of a metal band and unfulfilled dreams in a godforsaken corner of Denmark. We meet Andreas, a useless mechanic, who spends most of his time daydreaming of a mysterious, blonde goddess while training in martial arts and listening to all the latest metal records with his bandmate and unemployed friend, Emil.
Together, they embark on an unexpected journey to escape everyday life and pursue the dream of the prestigious major label record deal. When everything seems hopeless, the musical revelation reveals itself under the shadow of a broad-brimmed cowboy hat.
‘1986 Forever’ is the third short film by 802 – a dark and twisted postmodern comedy directed by Casper Balslev, who is renowned for his music videos and work with international artists like ALT-J, Seinabo Sey, MØ, Mew and more.
802 has become notoriously known for their fuzzy and unashamedly catchy wall of sound. This summer, they conquered the biggest Scandinavian festivals – including Copenhell and Roskilde Festival – with a musical explosion that created mosh pits of headbangers and pop lovers.
Andreas Asingh (vocals, keys & drums), Emil Sørensen (guitar), and Kristian Holbæk (bass) even won New Artist of the Year at the Danish metal awards, Den Hårde Tone, while their short film, ‘The Curse of the Velvet Vampire’, most recently won Best International Short at the Australian film festival, A Night of Horror.
The latest 802-single, ‘Princess’, is featured in ‘1986 Forever’ and more is to come from the alternative three-piece in 2025.
